No HDMI port on the box

Hi,

My TV is HD-ready, has a HDMI port. The problem is my TiVO box does not. It should be under the smart card slot, shouldn't it? I'm using a SCART cable but the image is not great. Is my box faulty? What should I do?

Thanks

Re: No HDMI port on the box

you may have to use the scart cable in order to access the box settings and then change them to HDMi, before the HDMi port will work.  I recall an engineer needing to do that when ours was installed ages ago. ( & he'd struggle to do that nowadays as many new TVs no longer even have a scart input )

SCART is obsolete analogue rubbish by moderen standards - only HDMi can give you a HD picture

Re: No HDMI port on the box

Hi Ben,

Thanks for your message. I'm happy to be part of the community.

Actually there's only one thing that I'd like some directions about, within the same HDMI subject.

I tried the HDMI ports (TV & Box) and took the SCART cable out. It didn't work; I mean, the TV lost connection with the box, completely. No images, no channels, nothing. I read on the installation manual the best would be one or the other: either SCART cable or HDMI connection. I've been watching TV with the SCART only but the image is not that great. Please advise when you've got a chance.

Thanks a mil,

Runaldo

Re: No HDMI port on the box

Hey Runadloferre,

Cheers for the reply and prompt one Smiley Happy

If you grab your remote and push the following:-

Home >>> Help & Settings >>> Settings >>> Video output

Once here you can check to see if you have 1080i, 720, or other formats have been selected, can you tell me what you have?

Many thanks.

Ben

Re: No HDMI port on the box

Thank you Runaldo Smiley Happy

With that on correct output we'd just need to make sure that you have opted for HDMI 1 or 2 when clicking on the remote.

Are you able to tests this and if so, do you have any other HDMI capable devices you can test the TV with?

Take care.

Ben
