ITV Anglia HD

Hello.

I live in Bedfordshire and ITV HD carried by Virgin is the London version.  Anglia is, however, my local TV region.  Anglia has now started broadcasting in HD.

I can watch Anglia in SD on channel 870.  Is it likely that the Luton headend will carry Anglia HD?

Thanks for your help!

Re: ITV Anglia HD

ITV Anglia East has now been launched in HD on satellite. This has now replaced Meridian South East on Freesat & Sky boxes. People in the ITV Anglia West region will still need to use the SD Version of ITV to get their local news (Cambridge opts-out of ITV Anglia's core service for Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire, Buckinghamshire, Northamptonshire & North Herts news). The rollout of ITV HD for Anglia East is in the hands of Arqiva broadcast services. They will have to provide the wired feeds to the relevant Freeview transmitters, & to Virgin's master headend at Langley, so at present there will be no changes to these TV platforms.

Re: ITV Anglia HD

Just to point out that the Luton Headend's ITV Anglia West & BBC East (West) legacy Cambridge feeds are likely to remain unchanged by the above. The core Virgin service in this area is still fed from London, so the London ITV HD service will remain on Channel 113.

Re: ITV Anglia HD

Thank you for such a comprehensive and detailed answer!  It does seem odd, though, that Bedfordshire (including Luton) is provided with the London service on BBC and ITV when it is in the East (West) regions of both.

Its the crazy way the government cable authority of the time carved up the country into areas that didn't match region boundries. They were only interested in the maximum they could get from selling the area franchises, so the result was network build-out from where the 'money' was in London instead of locally.  Parts of Kent, Sussex, Surrey & Hampshire are also part of the London area on cable, as you can see below.
