HD channels

We're currently on the Big Easy bundle, but would like a few more HD channels.

Looking at the bundles to get any more means jumping from £22 a month to £49 a month.

But we wouldn't need or want the fastest broadband.

Are there any options between the Big Easy and Big Kahuna bundles that would give us more HD channels (like the Discovery / National Geographic channels), but without the fastest broadband for somewhere nearer £30-35?

Nope, and the price of the BK pack will be rising by another £3 per month from 1st September to pay for BT sports with no opt out if you don't like sports

Re: HD channels

Despite the very useful Bundle Builder being removed from VM's webiste, it would still be worth picking up the phone & talking to Retentions (150 option 4 then 5), as its possible they will still be able to offer you a non-standard "Mix & Match" type bundle. However, if you do get offered one, expect it to be tied into a long contract.

If you do this remember the price they quote will increase by £3 in September to pay for BT sport Europe

Re: HD channels

Thanks - that's what I remember from ages ago - a builder where you could pick what you wanted from tv, phone and broadband and it would give you a price for any combination.

Given how long HD has been around, was surprised its still such a jump just to add HD variants of channels other than the BBC, ITV etc.

Not really surprising, as the channel providers expect more return on these channels from VM due to the increased costs of distribution etc. The difference between VM & Sky is that Sky impose a separate HD charge on their customers ( & on VM's customers that take their premium HD channels).

Re: HD channels

Sky no longer charge a separate HD charge for 'basic' channels, however like VM, you need to upgrade your package to the Family Bundle (similar to VM's XL TV) to get those channels HD variant. They only charge to have Sky Sports and Sky Movies in HD and then they charge £5.25

Re: HD channels

The bundle builder is still available on the website. All you need to do (without selecting any products first) is click on the basket, enter your postcode and hey presto - there it is.

Tis a pity you can build an HD bundle without sport

Nice find!

Just shows how much VM would rather you take a standard bundle now  than build your own.
