Dead boxes

Ok so over the last couple of days I now have 2 boxes that are dead.

Samsung V+ which has orange power light and nothing showing on the display

Also a Cisco VHD box which has the power light on at red and nothing showing on the display

I have tried all the usual things, powering off, pressing and holding power button, unplugging and leaving for some time for cooling...etc. But both boxes are still the same.

Is it possible to get new boxes sent out for self install and return of old boxes as I work shift and would have trouble being in for an engineer

Thank you for letting the Community know about the problems on those two boxes, i would like to help and offer you my apologies for the inconvenience.

 

I've tested both boxes and can see that you will certainly need an engineer, however you have mentioned the prospect of a self install, the issue may be that there is a connection issue and may require an engineer overall.

Hi, thanks for the reply.

I don't think there is a connection issue as I have tried both boxes in my living room where my Tivo is and they do not power up at all as stated and the Tivo is working fine.

Is there no way of me just doing a self install as I am not sure when I will be available for the engineer times that you said due to my work pattern.

When two boxes have failed, it must be sensible to have Virgin Media come out and investigate why?

You say that the boxes don't work where your working TiVo is but that doesn't actually identify the root cause of these problems.

Have you tried the TiVo where the other boxes failed?

I would suggest you don't do that in case the TiVo gets destroyed as well.

It's not good business for Virgin Media to send out two new boxes on request by a customer.

Thanks for getting back to me on this.

As I had said on one of the emails I could only make myself available for a morning visit this week, ie. the 8-12 slot.

Turns out the 2 boxes were gubbed right enough and nothing wrong anywhere on the cable incomer, signals etc.
