Child safe not blocking pornographic content

I have just set up Websafe on my account and have enabled all of the options in the "Child safe" section

I have tested this out and whilst all of the porn sites are blocked, there appears to be a loophole that needs fixing unless I am missing something.

With all of the protection enabled, If you google a simple word like "**bleep**" (excuse the language) and then click on "images", you are faced with a whole wall of pornographic photographs!

Has anybody else found this? I have not had luck with Virgin customer services.

Re: Child safe not blocking pornographic content

turn on the google version of "child safe" in your google browser options -  called safe search

" child safe", like all other non-core virgin products is a POS. ( deliberate language choice)-  though to be charitable, child safe is a program that checks for dodgy web site addresses , then blocks either everything or nothing. and do you really want it to block all of google ?

it is not easy to write code that detects sexuality in images, even facebook has had some well publicised recent fails at that.

google definitely has an image censor built in, google " google safe search"

and for better filtering generally you can change your PC to use open DNS instead of virgin defaults, and then use a free open DNS account to set exactly what you want blocked.

Re: Child safe not blocking pornographic content

I completely agree with these comments. Pornography may be blocked on the Google search but it is still available via the images and video tabs on the Google search.

We have multiple computers in the house and the Virgin Media software should be blocking out these images and videos irrespective of whether Google safe search has been activated on each device.

Why is Virgin Media not updating it's software for this oversight?
