Catch-up screen shrinks

Why, when watching BBC iPlayer on catch-up with tivo, the sides of the screen are blacked out, therefore, not the full program width is showing?

Re: Catch-up screen shrinks

That depends what you're watching - was it a 4:3 broadcast to start with?

Re: Catch-up screen shrinks

Thank you for your reply. It does not happen with ITV programs, only BBC iPlayer so imagine not 4:3.

A photo may help if you can take one?

Re: Catch-up screen shrinks

On the top left, where it should say BBC, only BC shows as the edges of my TV are blacked out and the picture is squeezed.
How do I attach a photo to this, there doesn't seem to be an option to.

You'll likely have to upload it to a image hosting service as you're a fairly new member. http://imgur.com

If you've uploaded the picture, then you should be able to paste the link into a post.

Re: Catch-up screen shrinks

That does look as if your TV believes it's receiving a 4:3 signal and is cropping the display accordingly.

It might be worth cycling through the aspect ratio settings on the TV to see if there is anything which prevents it from doing so automatically.
