BT Sport 3 - Why can't Virgin get rid of all the text?

On both BT sport 3 and BT Sport 3 HD there is the annoying text around it, but even more annoying is the message that BT and Sky Subscribers can press a red button to get rid of it.  Now maybe it isn't possible to have this red button facility with Virgin, but it would be nice if BT Sport 3 was clear of all the text which is damn near impossible to read in SD anyway.  Leave it on HD if need be where it can be read, though given all it shows is the fixtures and tables, what is the point of it at all when there is no actual football taking place?  Fair enough on Saturday afternoon but otherwise pointless and sadly irremovable.

If it is part of the transmitted picture, then there is nothing VM can do. However this is more likely attached to Red Button data services. These tags can be removed from the screen by pressing the BLUE button on a Virgin remote. To do the same on Freeview, press GREEN, or on Sky services, press BACKUP.

It is part of the transmission shown, but there is an alternative transmission for BT and Sky.  Have a look at BT Sport 3 and see.

Re: BT Sport 3 - Why can't Virgin get rid of all the text?

Hi arrgee1991,

Sorry to hear about your trouble with this.

As mentioned by nodrogd, if it is part of the transmitted picture, there is not much more we can do to resolve this for you.

Your feedback is appreciated regarding the alternative transmission with other providers and we will, therefore, look into this.

Many thanks,

Nat_J

Re: BT Sport 3 - Why can't Virgin get rid of all the text?

On BT Sport 3 it says Sky and BT subscribers can see the whole picture by pressing red button or similar.  https://community.bt.com/t5/YouView-Boxes/BT-Sport-Europe-without-the-text-framing-the-screen/td-p/1... -   Alternative channels for BT Sport Europe (#409), that allow you to watch the programme free of the additional text down the left side, and bottom of the screen. For those who were in the dark like me! go to channels 455 for standard broadcast, and 474 for HD.  'Sky customers press red for full screen, and BT TV customers switch to 455 SD and 470 HD'.

I've noticed that live sports games on BT Sports 3 are full-screen, but any replays or feature-programs are the split-screen version.

Yep, this is really annoying me too! There must be a workaround if BT and Sky customers can get the full picture. Maybe just needs Virgin to sort it out?

As has been said in another thread, BT has the final say on the functionality of their channels & VM as a "wholesale output" is not allowed to alter them. BT sells direct to Sky customers & THEY provide the functionality through the Sky boxes, not Sky.
