new V6 installation

Hi All,

New poster so please be gentle and ignore my ignorance.

Last night we upgraded to a V6 box via self installation. Being somewhat of a stickler for the rules, I became concerned when connecting the cables up per the instruction guide, step 3.1 to be precise. This shows connecting a short cable to the cable that goes into the box - assuming it being a simple adapter of sorts. However, what it did not show, is whether I should keep the 6dB attenuator in place that was connected to my previous standard TiVo box

Anyone any ideas ? (Sorry if this would be better posted on the tech board, but I thought this a good place to start.

Thanks guys and Gals

Re: new V6 installation

I would leave it in place.

Re: new V6 installation

That's my concern - I removed it and everything seems fine, with signal stated at 100%, but I am concerned I may be overloading the system in some way ? I am not exactly sure what an "attenuator" does. Anyone have any idea?
