This works for me.

If I place my palm under the remote it doesn't work, but if it lay it gently on the top it does! And if I remove my palm completely it doesn't work!!

This is absolutely ridiculous, did they lay off their QA team or something?

Edit: it works if you cover the bottom of the remote, cup the button edge and it will work 100% but remove the hand and it stops

Yip I have the same issue, remote works intermittently. Started about an hour after install, tried phoning and and after being transferred to the specialist V6 team I was told the old 'it might be the batteries piffle'.

Obviously a known issue, needs sorting ASAP Virgin Media.

This is not good.

Remote has started playing up tonight after a week since the install. Not responding on every click making the box feel worse than the Cisco TiVo boxes.

I actually tried doing what someone had suggested and put one hand under the battery compartment towards the back of the phone. That works!!!

Will be on the phone to VM tomorrow.

Hi There,

 

I too am having the same problem. I have restarted the box several times, Re-paired the remote with the box twice and have also tried 3 different pairs on new batteries in the controller. It will work for a bit then it will have periods where it is unresponsive and makes the box feel ancient and slow. 

How can i fix this or will i need a new controller?

I have a new controller coming hopefully today so I will let you know if it fixes the issue.

 

The issue is with the controller I think as if you cup the rear and underneath of the controller with your other hand it works perfectly.

Had my V6 installed last friday and im also having trouble with the remote being unresponsive.

After a hellish install that took over 4 hours with many phone calls to many different departments i have just about had enough of VM now.......

I've been having this issue. For me there's a very clear way to re-create and workaround the problem. Basically if I cover up the IR transmitter on the front of the remote with my palm, the remote works absolutely fine. As soon as I take my hand off, it doesn't work properly. It seems like either there's a sensor at the front that is trying to decide whether to use IR or bluetooth, or it's getting messed up because it can see the box and there's some communication problem.

No amount of resting it, pressing it or doing anything else works for me, but covering up the front works every time. (The green light TV IR is unaffected by all of this) Obviously covering the front or putting it behind my back is not a long term solution, so I'll request another remote - I can imagine it may well happen again though.

Got my new remote yesterday.

Started off perfect then a few hours in the same problems appeared.

Still have to cup the rear of the remote to get the box to respond consistently.

Can a mod pick this up please as I'm not spending time calling in again.

Really sorry for any inconvenience experienced with this.

 

Further to Kath's post, this is a known issue and the team are working to get this resolved ASAP.

 

There is no review date set at the moment, however, this should be provided fairly soon.
