V6 and Tivo box

I have just had a new V6 box fitted in my lounge and moved my old Tivo box into another room. I was of the understanding I could watch programmes stored on my old Tivo through my new V6 box in another room. Can someone tell me how as I can't find my programmes anywhere!

Re: V6 and Tivo box

The Tivo needs to be connected to the hub, either ethernet or a plug in extender that has an ethernet slot. Once they are both connected go to your shows and scroll right to bottom it should show the Tivo from the V6 menu and vice versa

Well there's my problem then! My Tivo is in a different room to the hub so an ethernet isn't practical! How do I get the plug in extender? Shame this wasn't explained to me when I agreed to the package, I was just told I could watch my old programmes through my new box!

Re: V6 and Tivo box

There are 2 types (that I know of) you can use.. https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00P7XV00O/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o05_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1  is 1 I use which is a wifi extender that you can plug an ethernet cable from the extender into the Tivo, or BT also make one that uses the electricity circuit you also plug in with an ethernet.

Give me a sec while I find the power circuit one.

https://www.amazon.co.uk/BT-Broadband-Extender-Powerline-Adapter/dp/B00P7XV004/ref=pd_bxgy_147_2?_en... is the powerline extender I used. NB you need 2 of the powerline extenders one plugged in near the hub and the other plugged in near the Tivo. Both of those must be on the same electric circuit (which is why I needed 2 different sorts, the upstairs one is on same circuit, downstairs isn't. On the whole, the powerline ones are the better option.

Re: V6 and Tivo box - misleading information

Interesting as this is exactly what I am trying to do.

I've have just had a V6 box delivered and set it up OK. I was told by Customer Services that I could use my previous TiVo box in another room via an E'net connection to 'see' recordings across the boxes.

I have Homeplugs and the E'net connection is good to the 2nd box. However it can't get past the 'System starting' screen. Support told me I also had to have this 2nd box connected to coax to be able to use it.

This was not what I was led to believe when I renewed my contract and together with the 'ability' to view programs/recodings away from home (another misnomer) was my main reason for agreeing to a price increase and staying with VirginMedia.

I believe both on counts I was misled and will be raising this formally with them and no doubt cancelling the service.

So, please be aware anyone who is thinking of doing the same.

Re: V6 and Tivo box - misleading information

Yup all boxes need the coax... You can move the old box to another room - but that needs to be set up with coax too.
