Upgrade to V6 from TiVo

I am currently on

XL Full House TV with 2 x TiVo and 1 x +box

Vivid 150 internet

Talk More Eve/Weekends

I called up to see how much it would be to upgrade to V6 and I was pretty shocked by the costs!!

Given that the boxes remain the property of virgin the quote i got was...

£100 per box (£200)

£15 per V6 registration (£30)

£5 per month on top of TiVo costs for the V6 subscriptions (£120 for the year)

.....all on top of me actually paying my £80 per month for my package

If i went to skyQ as a new customer that would get me over 6 months service and save £30 a month on the remaining months

given tivo takes about 30 seconds to load the tv menu and about 2 minutes to load netflix i don't know why i'm paying so much!

Directly via Ethernet is preferable, but powerline or wifi may also be suitable.

Re: Upgrade to V6 from TiVo

Get back on to them.  This is completely wrong - se other posts on this topic.

There is no extra monthly charge for upgrading Tivo to V6.  There is a £5 monthly charge for a second box if you package doesn't include one (mine does).

To me it looks like it would be the £100 for first, £50 for 2nd and £15 for activation. Whether or not you have to pay extra pm depends on your current level. Also if you currently have any discounts applied you could lose those

Definitely should not be 2 activation fees

Re: Upgrade to V6 from TiVo

Who on earth told you that?!?!?

There might be some discrepancy, but I'd have expected £165 based on here:
http://community.virginmedia.com/t5/Virgin-TV-V6/TiVo-V6-Pricing-Explained/td-p/3281148/jump-to/firs...

One activation fee, not 2 (it's for the service, not the box)

No increase in monthly subscription unless you're replacing the V+HD box (you're already paying the TiVo premium for the TiVos, the V6s are no more expensive).

Tbh I'd ring them back tomorrow morning and talk to Retentions. Point out that you're looking to upgrade 2 boxes, and you may well get a much better deal by in essence taking out the updated Full House 200 package.

Re: Upgrade to V6 from TiVo

Thank you..... direct or powerline not really possible as superhub is in office on top floor in a cupboard next to the printer on a 5m extension cable.

Powerline will be degraded through the extension cable.

TV isn't even in the same room as the superhub.

Was awaiting an agent online chat and after 10mins of waiting i was just cut off!!

Thanks VM!!

Re: Upgrade to V6 from TiVo

Get passthrough powerline connectors - just plug the extension into them.

Re: Upgrade to V6 from TiVo

sorry i'm not being clear......

the 5m extension lead takes power from the ring socket in the room around the skirting board and through the stud wall into the built in cupboard where the other end of the extension lead is and the superhub gets its power

if i need to use powerlines to feed the V6, the one at the superhub would be at the wrong end of a 5m extension
