Undisclosed installation fee

I have been with Vmedia a very long time and had upgrades in the past but this time was "DIFFERENT." from My virginmedia account I went to upgrades and offers where I clicked to get the V6. Shortly afterwards I got an email stating the box was free, the install was free (worth £40) and all I would pay was £20 activation. Installation day comes and goes then I receive the new contract telling me I have to pay £109.95 for the install and activation. Obviously I rang up Vmedia and apparently this is a standard charge, not happy I cancelled the upgrade as I had not signed the contract. The money once taken can not be refunded to my bank but will be credited to my account. How can an email saying £20 end up costing £110? I am completely disgusted.

Re: Undisclosed installation fee

Was it self install? Or did you have an engineer?

Re: Undisclosed installation fee

All and any payments are able to be refunded. Sounds like Mafia tactics. There are people and your bank to complain to.

Re: Undisclosed installation fee

The usual break down is as follows
Box - £49.95
Install - £40
Activation - £20
If they've advised you would only pay activation, definitely worth a call through to the customer care team, they should be able to pull the call get that listened to and rectify it!
