Hi, I've only had Virgin TV for a few days but each morning the box has turned itself off...is this normal? One time it did so during the day.
If it is normal then I assume (do that too often) that it will record anything requested with no problem.

If you mean the box went into standby, rather than powered off, then this is normal if this is set in the power savings settings.
If you don't want this, you can set the box to be always on in the power savings settings.
The box will record in standby.

Thank you...it doesn't come back on using the remote so I'm not sure that it goes into standby...I have to restart it from the button on the box.
This isn't a problem as long as I know it will still record.
It's still not clear to me whether your box is going into standby or is powering off.
Is there an LED lit in the front of the box and, if so, what colour is it?
What button do you try to use to start from the remote control?
Which button do you use on the box to start it?
The light on the box was red, it is where the on/off button is.
I think I just pressed home and standby previously but it was red again today so I tried the standby button and it came on this time.
Before I just pressed the button that showed red and it then went white.
Sorry I'm not in the same room whilst on my laptop so answering from memory...age is showing short term memory loss lol.
I think my main worry was anything I wanted to record wouldn't if it was off, so this does sound as though it is in standby?
Thanks for the clarification.
The red LED signifies that your V6 is in standby. As you have established, you come out of standby by pressing the standby button on your V6 remote.
In standby, your V6 will continue to record.
