Multiroom Streaming

After getting a V6 installed I'm still getting no joy with MRS.

Re: Multiroom Streaming

I could never get any powerlines to work until recently supplied netgear 1000's from virgin, which I have set and they work fine, think they dropped once in past 6 months. Also remember if you live in a older house circuits might not be up to the way the lines work.

Re: Multiroom Streaming

If you have not done so already, I would try a reset of all three boxes.

Re: Multiroom Streaming

Should I try resetting them all at the same time?

they have all been reset individually since the V6 install.

Re: Multiroom Streaming

Hi sibthp,

Thanks for your post and apologies to hear you are having an issue with Multi-room Streaming.

As mentioned by Ernie_C, the first thing to try is a reboot of the boxes.

How did this go? Has it helped?

Come back and let us know so we can investigate this further if not.

Thanks,

Re: Multiroom Streaming

Hi

ive tried several different reboots.

Turned off all powerline adaptors. Then rebooted V6 and two TiVo boxes. Once all restarted I've then gone around and turned the powerline adaptors back on.

all boxes can see each other  then they slowly all change to the ! Mark next to the device name in each My Show section.

Even my TVs anywhere app always looses connection to the boxes and I have to choose one from the list.

Re: Multiroom Streaming

Hi sibthp,

Thanks for trying the reboot and coming back to me on this.

It may be the way you are rebooting them. Sometimes unless done in a specific order it can cause the devices not to 'shake hands' correctly.

Try rebooting in the following way.

Turn off all the equipment, including your hub, and leave off for a few minutes.

Whilst these are off, ensure you have the Powerline cables and any ethernet cables fully connected to where they need to be.

Turn on the hub first. Wait for this to be set up and running.

Next is up is the V6.

Finally both the TiVo® boxes one at a time.

This should allow everything to shake hands and the connection to be made.

If you still see the same issue, try the connection with just the V6 and the one TiVo® box. Is there any difference?

Come back and let me know.

Thanks,

Re: Multiroom Streaming

Hi Kath

Thank you for your response.  I have tried that process already, to confirm:

  • powered OFF all Powerline adaptors
  • powered OFF V6 and Tivo boxes
  • powered off SuperHub 2
  • waited 3 minutes
  • Powered ON SuperHub 2 - waited until fully ok
  • Powered ON V6 and Tivo's - waited until fully ok
  • Turned on Powerline from SuperHub
  • Turned on Powerlines behind V6 and Tivos

Devices initially appear connected, but then after a short time they change to the ! next to the device.

A case was raised on my account on the 9th January 2017 with a 5 day SLA but I have still not heard from that.

Re: Multiroom Streaming

shouldn't the powerline adaptors be switched on before to tivo's and v6s

that aside what powerline adaptors are you using? are they vm supplied ones.

how are they if you plug a computer or something in each end and try pinging or copying files across.

Re: Multiroom Streaming

Hi sibthp,

Thanks for coming back to me on this Smiley Happy

OK, I've had a look at the IT Ticket and there's an update on there saying, awaiting information from customer. The ticket doesn't say what information is needed from you so I have added a further update asking what they need to know to resolve this.

I will keep an eye on this ticket and let you know what information we need Smiley Happy

Apologies it's taking so long. Hopefully we're reaching the end of the tunnel soon.

Thanks,
