Lights on but v6 not home

Hi,

Once a day I am having to reboot my V6 box. The light is white on the front but no picture. If I press the standby button on the remote or the box nothing happens. If I press it twice still nothing happens. I have to physically remove the power and put it back in again then picture comes back.
This coupled with the remote issues is making think about going to another provider.
Anyone got any ideas why the above is happening??

Re: Lights on but v6 not home

1stly there is a little switch at the back of the box that you can use instead of pulling the lead out.

I have this occasionally, although seems to always follow me doing something like watching iPlayer, or doing a lot of stuff with the anywhere app..

anyway hopefully the new firmware will fix it, unless you already have it.

to see if you have

look in settings/system info/system info and see what the version is.

the old version number was

20.5.8.RC12-VMB-11-C68.

and the new on (as far as I can tell as I havn't been updated yet) is

20.5.8.1.RC4-VMB-11-C68

Re: Lights on but v6 not home

Hi, did this work for you? I've been having this exact same problem since I installed my new V6 box a couple of weeks ago.

Re: Lights on but v6 not home

Yep mine has the old version number 20.5.8.RC12-VMB-11-C68
Any idea when it will be updated, I'm getting close to sending this back - not fit for purpose.

....quite a number of users (me included) are still running the old version - I guess VM are pushing the update to users, by areas (I'm in the CR2 area, for the record), so nobody really knows when we'll all get it!

Re: Lights on but v6 not home

Happened 3 times yesterday!!!! Hope the update comes through soon. Guess it can't be done manually? Might give VM a call tonight. Do they ever respond on here?

Re: Lights on but v6 not home

Happened again just now - 3 things recording and tried to go to on demand to watch Suits, but i now have the black screen of death and nothing happening on the box. Pressing the remote gives me a flash by the light responding on the front of the box, but nothing happening.

Getting to the point now where i will be pestering Virgin cause this service has been very poor since upgrading to the V6 box.

Re-boot agin i guess!

Re: Lights on but v6 not home

Really sorry to hear about all of this justjust1,

I've checked everything from this end and there does appear to be a level issue present via the equipment.

I'd like to arrange for one of our engineers to visit and take a look at this for you.

I've sent you a private message so that we can get this booked in.

Hope to hear back from you soon,

Nat_J
