Full House XL with 150mb broadband - V6 price £150+ ???

I just called 150 to enquire about a v6 box to replace my current TiVo.. I also have a vhd box upstairs.

I thought I would ask how much to swap out the TiVo first... Was told an engineer would be required and total cost would be £154.

I didn't bother asked what impact swapping the vhd for a v6.

Am also confused whether my monthly payment would change.

Could someone from virgin confirm the cost and monthly subn for:-

Option 1
Replace existing TiVo with v6
Keep vhd upstairs

Option 2
Replace existing TiVo with v6
Replace vhd with old TiVo

Option 3
Replace both boxes with v6.

Thanks

Re: Full House XL with 150mb broadband - V6 price £150+ ???

Looks as if they have incorrectly added a £40 installation charge to the quote.  See this useful table for the price combinations: http://community.virginmedia.com/t5/Virgin-TV-V6/TiVo-V6-Pricing-Explained/m-p/3281148#U3281148

Any additional monthly charges would depend on a number of things.  If you currently have discounts on your package these may be affected.  If you move from a non recording box ie. VHD to a recording one either TiVo or V6 there will be an additional monthly fee.  Exactly what that extra fee would be again depends on your current package.  You would have to ring in to ask.

Re: Full House XL with 150mb broadband - V6 price £150+ ???

Hi drljames,

Thanks for your post and apologies to hear you've been given some incorrect prices.

As mentioned by Graham_A, it sounds as though they haven't added on the credit for the manned install.

Based on you having no other discounts on your account you'd be looking at the following:

Option 1
Replace existing TiVo with v6
Keep vhd upstairs

£99.95 + £14.99 activation fee

Option 2
Replace existing TiVo with v6
Replace vhd with old TiVo

£99.95 + £14.99 activation fee

At least £5.00 per month extra on top of what you're paying now.

Option 3
Replace both boxes with v6

£99.95 + £14.99 activation fee for your first V6 box

£49.95 for your second V6 box

At least £5.00 per month extra on top of what you're paying now.

Let me know what you decide to do Smiley Happy

Thanks,

Re: Full House XL with 150mb broadband - V6 price £150+ ???

How does the costing work out for users on 152Mbps service that have yet to receive the boost to 200Mbps?

Re: Full House XL with 150mb broadband - V6 price £150+ ???

Hi stpuk,

Thanks for your post Smiley Happy

You need to be on the 200mb, or upgrading in the same order, to be eligible for the promotional offer.

If you're still on 150mb then you'd have to pay full price.

Apologies for any inconvenience.

Thanks,

Re: Full House XL with 150mb broadband - V6 price £150+ ???

That's really not very fair on customers that are waiting for the free 200Mb upgrade that was announced over 1 year ago. It's not the customers fault that Virgins network isn't up to standard. Surely there is some code to discount these users who are still waiting for the free upgrade.

Re: Full House XL with 150mb broadband - V6 price £150+ ???

So, let me get this straight please Kath.

Customers who have not received their promised speed boost from 2015 because Virgin have not upgraded the area yet have to pay double the price of those that have received the free speed boost or pay extra for the increase to 200Mbps themselves?

How on earth is that fair??

Re: Full House XL with 150mb broadband - V6 price £150+ ???

I suspect Customer Relations would be amenable to allowing an existing 152Mb customer to upgrade to 200Mb and add V6 at the same time and ensure that the charging was acceptable.

Re: Full House XL with 150mb broadband - V6 price £150+ ???

I'd have to agree, it should be possible to change from 152Mb > 200Mb at the same time as placing the V6 order with the lower one off cost.

This is different than going from the existing customer 150Mb tier (upgraded from 100Mb that new customers get) to 200Mb, which is a paid upgrade and so being on 150Mb would affect the cost of the V6 box.
