First thing to do is use the Check Service Status (top right of this page) to see whether there is a known fault affecting your area.
If not, then you need to log a call with VM if you have an alternative phone available ... 0345 454 1111.

Thanks for letting us know about this on the community and I'm sorry to learn that you're without a landline at the moment.
I have found your account and I can see that your number has come off the switch so it has been staged over to the relevant department which can take up to 48 hours to resolve.
Once this has been investigated you should be able to use your phone as normal but please let me know if you experience any further issues once this is done.

I am concerned about this.

I've had a look at this and spoken with the relevant team regarding the issue.
They've also advised that this is taking longer than normal to complete and further investigations will therefore be made to get this sorted for you.
I'll certainly get back to you once I receive an update.

Further to my previous post, I've heard back from the team and they've escalated this over to another department.
You should receive a response from them within 48 hrs, however, most are dealt with within 24 hrs.
I'll keep hold of this for you though and let you know if I receive more information.
I am having same problem, only not as bad as you.....the cost of using mobile to ring Virgin is ridiculous, and they dont seem to care.

person did test says no fault in area I will make you an appointment for someone to come out
he then put me on hold after a while he then said I am going to speak to someone about this...I will put you on hold again
he didn't give me an appointment as he said he would when he returned this time he said a fault has been discovered in the area
and this will be fixed it 24 hours when I asked him why the first tests said no fault he said he didn't know why.... and he repeated than it would be fixed
but he now said 24 to 48 hrs adding that last bit on as you can see
this info may help someone who is involved in something similar the call from my pay as you go mobile cost £6.53
it was all I had I am a full time carer on very low income..my wife is seriously ill and we are greatly concerned about not having a phone
