Voicemail setup

Ever since I switched to virgin, my voicemail is not working - phone just rings forever and doesn't allow callers to leave a message.

I have called 150 to activate this (although it seems ludicrous to me that a free service needs to be activated?!) but been on the phone 10 minutes and options are just sending me round in circles.

Why have Virgin made it so complicated just to get a basic free voicemail service?

Anyway, can someone advise me how to get it working please?
