We've just had the phone line go crackly and reject incoming calls *again*. Engineer visit booked for next week.
It's probably the third time inside four years. Usually winter, after rain.
Given the horrible state of some of the local cabs and cabling, it's not too surprising. The one on Southwick Road, Denmead is often left hanging ajar for days. I've also seen some with the door just leaned up against the cab for days, so any passing dogs could easily **bleep** all over the krone strips.
Seems like sometimes they swap for another pair, so that someone else gets a faulty line, and the cycle repeats.
Given that the cable broadband is now more reliable than the rusty line pairs, I wonder if VM have made any progress towards having native VoIP services as true line replacements?
