Re: Unlocking device

Hi RAFIQUL,

Thank you for coming in and posting you message regarding your phone Smiley Happy

All new contracts shouldn't be network locked and if you have any additional ones with you that are of the older sort and need unlocking, we can do this for you free of charge.

Any PAYG phones would just need to be registered with us first but you can do this by calling the number 789/ 0345 6000 789.

Take care and if you have any questions, please let me know Smiley Happy

Ben

Re: Unlocking device

Hi @BenD_H

are you sure about this?

It's a question that crops up quite often in the mobile forum.

Calling 789 to request an unlock is likely to result in a charge of £15.32 as stated in Virgin's T's & C's.

How do you make the call and obtain the unlock code free of charge?

AlexKid.

Re: Unlocking device

Hey AlexKid Smiley Happy

Thanks for the response here.

I've been looking into this and have had some updated information regarding the unlocking of phones on our network. I've been in touch with the mobile team directly and they have informed me that this is free of charge currently, any different information is due to be changed to match this. Anyone that is unsure can certainly call in and this will be confirmed free of charge, which is nice Smiley Happy

Hope you're doing well AlexKid and thank you for you ongoing contributions Smiley Happy

Re: Unlocking device

Hi AlexKid,

This was also the case when my mother and I requested to unlock her phone old phone. In fact, to have been given the incorrect information and charged for something we shouldn't have been charged for has made me slightly annoyed Smiley Embarassed

Re: Unlocking device

Hi Aimee_Saskia Smiley Happy

Thank you for your input, I'm sorry to see that you've not had the smooth service we like to operate.

The current process isn't to lock new phones from the point they are placed on the network, so this should become a thing of the past. If you have been charged for unlocking a phone on our network then this was in error. Please give our team a call on 789/ 0345 6000 789 and we can arrange the refund of the amount for you and your mother.

Thank you and take care.

Ben
