Hi my phone rings twice and then hangs up, contacted virgin who say they will increase rings to maximum of 10, my argument is surely a landline should ring until caller hangs up or answerphone kicks in I have explained that whilst I am in vicinity of phone 10 rings will be fine, have been with Virgin for years but seriously thinking of changing now as they can't seem to grasp this concept.

This does indeed sound a little bizarre.
I've checked the line state and I'm unable to detect any obvious faults at present.
I recommend waiting until the work order for ring extension is completed and if you then continue to experience fault with this, it's worth disconnecting/reconnecting the handset or testing different equipment.
If still no joy, get back to us and we'll investigate some more for you,
