Staggered dial tone and no caller display

Since having a new installation my dial tone is staggered and caller display is not working, even for my stored numvers

Did you ask for caller ID from Virgin?   With some landline phone providers caller ID is standard but with Virginmedia caller ID is an extra which can be negotiated as a part of your package and must be enabled by Virgin in order to get caller display to work on your phone.  If you did request it and it's not working properly then phone 150 and inquire.
