Phone not working

Hiya, My landline isnt working at the moment. As we have just registered with Virgin Media Earlier this month, the broadband is working, and the TV is working however the landline isnt working as there is no dial tone.We did connect the line to the Virgin phone box to 2 different phone handsets and the same effects took place twice. 

What will be the next step? Is there anyway we could fix the issue ourselves or do we need to contact a technician?
