Phone dead for several days.. Box at front door has no (negative) voltage feed.
TV and broadband OK. Virgin Media test says the connection is OK, but the test does not include actually testing to the master soket - with or without a phone plugged in.
Disconnected all internal phones. Checked for short circuit in internal wiring. None foound.
Did a loopback test on internal wiring, Virgin box to to master socket. All correct.
Need an engineer to check the connection to the pavement box etc,etc . Then I find that booking an engineering visit is very difficult - web pages 'not available' and all Virgin Media staff fully occupied with other customers.
Many thanks, Please book an engineering visit for me - any time/any day other than on March 22nd. (My wife has vascular dementia and I have to take her to yet another evaluation session on that day. One of the penalties for us in living too long). Regards.
As mentioned before, I am the full-time carer for my wife who has vascular dementia.
Your excellent engineer restored -40V connection with a fully functional telephone line last week. The fault occurred because we had not been re-connected after update work 'outside'. I had previously done a loopback test to confirm internal connections were OK.
Within a day, communication vanished but the -40V supply is still present.
Attempting to communicate to our phone using a neighbour's phone reveals our phone is now always busy.
Dial-out is non-functional. 'Dial-tone' present on our phone sounds like a test tone.
I need to book an engineer to investigate the new 'outside' fault. Any time / day other than March 22nd.
