Moving incoming phone line

My current phone line is routed around the front door and enters in a very inconvenient [porition in the hallway. I would like to move it to my office where my broadband enters. I phoned VM and they have said it will cost £99 to get a technician out.

Is there anyway to get this work done cheaper or free ?

Re: Moving incoming phone line

To be honest, not from Virgin Media. Engineer visit costs are reduced during new services installs, but the £99 is reasonable charged for the costs involved in sending an engineer out without a new service being installed.

A cheaper option for you would be to get a multi handset cordless home phone system. You could then have the main base station close to the existing phone point, but with an additional handset in the office where it's convenient.

Or it could also be possible to install phone cabling that connected to the existing Virgin Media master socket and then went to the office. As long as the Virgin Media side of the master socket isn't touched, then this could be done by anyone who knew what they were doing.
