Moving home - phone line concerns

I'm moving home in a couple of weeks and comparing packages with virgin/BT . I currently have just sky TV, and after checking my new postcode is compatible (happily it is) for broadband and Home phone with Virgin
My question is this , I know the previous owner has deactivated the BT phone line. Do I have to get this reactivated by BT first (£130!! On its own) or can this be activated by virgin so I can use all of your products. At the moment I'm begrudgingly looking at having to sign up for BT Internet and phone just for cost purposes as their activation fee is reduced if you stay with them for a year. I might be daft, but I can't find a clear explanation on this anywhere. Would appreciate some clarification if someone's got a minute to help,

thanks ,

Re: Moving home - phone line concerns

Virgin Media do not use the BT landline. They will install their own telephone cable so no BT charge.
