Line cord error

Hi,

i have just plugged a new BT phone into the phone line socket but it's saying line cord error. Also I've not been sent a landline number out by Virgin either even though we got it part of the package. Any help would be grateful.

First time I've plugged it in was tonight, we set up the package in December. Only moved into the house early January and just got around to sorting the phone tonight.
