Landline not working

My landline is not working. The phone displays shows the message 'check phone line'. I checked the service status and there were no faults. Also an engineer came today to install the landline and he said it was fine on his tester phone.

Are you sure the phone is plugged into the new VM socket and not an old BT socket?

Have you got a spare handset you can test in the socket? There could potentially be an issue with your equipment.

I have tried other equipment and it still displays the same message
