Home phone line not working

Our phone has a strange dial tone and cannot make or receive calls currently.

We had a test call from Virgin yesterday morning effectively saying This is a Test Call, Goodbye and Thank you. Since then, the phone has not worked. Can you please advise on how to fix.

Thanks for your post.

I have tested your line from here and I'm unable to find any issues so before I arrange for a technician can I confirm whether you have tried another handset in the Virgin Media socket to rule out any equipment fault?

No, we haven't changed anything. When we dial the home number, it sounds like it's ringing but doesn't actually ring or get through. It goes to voicemail and I also left a voicemail but when I go to my voicemail via the home phone, it is empty.

Thanks for getting back to me.

Do you have a spare phone you can try? I would recommend removing everything from the sockets in the house and trying a different phone, if there's still no dial tone then I'll need to arrange for one of our engineers to check your line.
