Home phone has dial tone but cannot make or receive calls
Ringing in has no such number. I have a dial tone but ringing out the same. Virgin engineer came 8am this morning -said there was a loose wire in box and asked me to check if I had a dial tone which I did (had one before anyway) and said it was ok now. Took hours to realise still had the problem when people started contacting us in other ways saying home phone not working. Why did the engineer not try to dial out. Technical help said if you can't dial out ring this number - got routed to India waited 20 mins to be transferred to be told not this department. Hung up in disgust. Son going through chemo I need the phone.

Fantastically quick response and engineer incredibly helpful. The problem seems to be that my phone no was not ported over from BT as requested and now BT have closed it down so I have a new phone number not know to friends and family. Perhaps you could check that the port is happening. Also I paid a separate £14 for the phone to come back to Virgin but the engineer said everything was working through the old BT sockets and system so can you look at whether this fee should be refunded given recent experience.
