could someone help me around the set up of the Hub 3.0 ? I see that there are two sockets for the phone line, however when I connect my phone there it does not work.

VOIP (connecting a phone to it) is a future possibility (likelihood more accurately) but the phone sockets do nothing at the minute.
If you have a VM phone line as part of your package there will be a separate wall mounted socket to plug your phone into....
