Hello, I have a problem with a virgin phone line and was hoping you could help.
From Monday the 19th Dec the phone has been displaying 'Check phone line'. I thought it might be due to some intermittent problem but it hasn't gone away. I've also tried plugging in a different phone but the problem persists. If I try to ring the number from my mobile it will ring out, but my phone does not actually ring. I've checked the line status in the area and there are no reported problems.
The phone line isn't mine, it is at my moms house so let me know if you need her account number to run any tests.
Does the phone still have a dial tone? If so, try dialling 174 and an automated voice should tell you what telephone number your line is attached to ... if it's not your number it's a fair bet that an engineer has mistakenly swapped connections in the street cabinet.
