Busy tone on landline

Hi,

I've just joined the VM community. I'm wondering if anyone else with a Virgin Media home phone has the same problem as me.

When I am using my home phone and someone else tries to call me, they don't get a busy time, they get ringing tone. This means that they think I'm not answering their call or that I'm not in.

I don't think this is normal, because my daughter's Virgin Media phone gives a busy signal when she's using it.

Can anyone advise???

Thanks,

Phil

Re: Busy tone on landline

Welcome to the Community, Phil!

Really sorry to hear about the fault experienced. :/

Is the handset plugged into a Virgin Media socket?

Also, have you tried testing different equipment at all?

Speak soon,

Nat_J

Re: Busy tone on landline

Hi Nat,

Thanks for taking time to reply to my query.

Yes, I am plugged into the VM socket and I've tried another phone. I was a BT phone engineer in another life. I'm fairly sure that this is an exchange problem. On a BT exchange, busy tone is given automatically to anyone calling into a line that is in use and that's what happens with my daughter's Virgin Media home phone, so I'm I'm assuming that Virgin lines should behave the same way.

Best wishes,

Phil

Re: Busy tone on landline

Thanks for getting back to me Phil,

With the information provided in mind, I'd like to proceed and arrange an engineer visit.

I've sent you a private message so that we can get this booked in.

Catch you in a bit,

Nat_J
