whenever I switch on my mobile data it never says 3G only ever H

The mobile internet access on my new virgin mobile is awful despite several attempts to get it fixed with a new SIM card as one of the suggestions. On the top bar of my Samsung phone it shows the usual two arrows, amber and green but never 3G, only ever H. Any assistance would be appreciated.

did you recieve the internet settings when setting up your new handset

This is sounding hopeful. No recollection of anyone at Virgin at the time of purchase or since talking about this. Assumed it was all done for the customer and was automatic

H is better than 3G.

 

H+ is even better.

Thank you. Why didn't Virgin Media point this out to me when I queried it? Their helpline gave me the impression that H was worse than 3G and it needed fixing

Sorry - can't help you there - I'm not an employee. Sounds like there's a training issue to me.

 

Incidentally, My handset (SGS4) is only noticeably slower when on Edge. (E shows in the display.) When it shows G, 3G, H or H+ it's no different - and it does generally flit between those options during normal use.

 

When I was in London a few weeks ago, I was getting a similar response from using the internet as I would normally get from my handset when it's connected to my broadband wifi. It's definitely throttled back here in the north for some reason, and it's not down to the connection protocol.
