Re: sim swap

Regarding APN settings, the one that's selected is:
Virgin Media Int
gotovirginmobile.uk

The other below which doesn't have a radio circular button beside it says:
Virgin MMS
gotovirginmobile.uk

I think there isn't a option button beside the MMS is because I had asked virgin mobile to disable MMS as most apps do it free.

But anyhow, do these settings under mobile networks look familiar?

Re: sim swap

@paperclip
It's normal only the internet one is selected, the MMS one on mine has no select button either

The MMS still works on mine.

EDIT: corrected miss information.

Re: sim swap

@teabag
Thanks.

Regarding 4G, I very often while at home only have one bar showing for cell coverage, infact as I type this it changes from no bars to one, so I'm hoping that when I get the second new sim that it gives me better quality cell phone signal than my current sim.

Re: sim swap

I asked for MMS to be switched off as once I was charged when I sent a normal text and the virgin system incorrectly thought it included multi media, and as I don't use the stock SMS app for none other than text only I asked for MMS to be turned off so that incident wouldn't happen again.

Re: sim swap

Thanks to user 'teabag' in another thread, I got my issue sorted regarding no mobile data, missing APN details and unable to save new APN details.

http://community.virginmedia.com/t5/Virgin-Mobile/apn-settings-lumia-950/td-p/3592782

I think they key thing is that the new Authentication type is CHAP, my new SIM would not allow the old type of PAP to be saved. When I entered the APN details as specified by teabag my phone sprung to life. Here's my APN settings now:

Name: WEB
APN: goto.virginmobile.uk
Proxy: Not set
Port: Not set
Username: Not set
Password: Not set
Server: Not set
MMSC: http://mms.virginmobile.co.uk:8002
MMS proxy: 193.30.166.2
MMS port: 8080
MCC: 234
MNC: 38
Authentication type: CHAP
APN type: default,mms,supl,hipri,fota,ims,cbs
APN Protocol: IPv4
APN Roaming Protocol: IPv4
APN enable/disable: APN enabled
Bearer: Unspecified
MVNO type: None
MVNO value:Not set
