roaming nightmare

My phone will not send txt's or make calls ...I am abroad. My roaming is turned ON. This happened last time I went abroad (France). Had no service for the whole 2 weeks. Rang them on return to UK, they said they would 'fix' it for next time. Checked with Virgin this time before travelling, they said it will work. Also checked myself that roaming is on, which it is. Still wont work. Really **bleep** off ith Virgin... Anyone got any ideas how to fix Thi while we are away? Can't even ring the helpline....

Re: roaming nightmare

Hi
We are in Australia this holiday. Tried to connect manually to 'Telstra' ....get the message 'no network access'. Same with the other 2 networks that appear. Tried turning the phone (Nokia 301) on and off....still no success.

Re: roaming nightmare

Hi traveller16

sorry to hear your having a nightmare whilst abroad.

If virgin activated the "roaming" feature on your account then you shouldn't really need to call again as its not just a one off thing.

lets try a few things first.

have you got a network? Does it show that your connect to one of these?

SFR
Orange France
Bouygues Telecom

if not then you can go in to the phone settings and try a manual network search for one of the above.

IF you do have a signal and connected to one of the above networks. Have you changed the prefix towhich the number starts with

I.E dropping the 0 and replace with +44 (+44798 etc etc)

Re: roaming nightmare

If you are able to login to your online account then have a look to see if roaming is enabled Smiley Happy

Welcome to the forums Wayne Smiley Happy

I'm sorry that you're having issues with roaming. I want to get this all sorted for you.

Can you let me know if you enabled roaming before travelling?

Let me know when you can.

Thanks,

Mat

Re: roaming nightmare

Thanks for your reply traveller16 Smiley Happy

I think our team will need to look into this further for you. So we can do this, are you able to call us on +447953967967 from any other phone so we can try and re-enable the roaming service?

As you're already abroad, I'm afraid we can't guarantee that this will work as the service may not register on a foreign network.

Give us a call and we'll see how it goes for you.

Thanks,

Mat
