number cloning

this is for a mod please, yesterday 20/03/17 i received a mobile call to my landline and on the caller display it showed my virgin mobile number so i assumed it was my wife,  when i answered it there was an asian guy on the phone so i hung up the call and asumed it was somehow crossed.....

now today i got another call coming from my mobile number thinking it was my wife i answered it to find it was another asian person???? so i telephoned virgin mobile today to query this to be told this was the first he,d heard of this and has agreed to send me a new sim diff number....anyone else heard of this???  new tactics scammers???

Re: number cloning

It is very easy for anyone to put up what ever number they feel like in the caller display area. That said it does seem coincidental that it is a number owned by you.

Re: number cloning

hi, thank you for your reply, i would agree with you but the number i received it on was my voip phone, it seems really strange as to how they can make a call that is supposedly from my virgin mobile.

we live and learn... thanks again.  logan.
