new phone and new sim

bought a new phone (new sim too) but it is not recognised by virgin. Help please?

Hi studentplayer,

Welcome to the community and thanks for posting.

Can I ask if you are getting any specific error messages and what device you are using?

If you getting a 'No SIM card' error or similar, it could be that the SIM is not inserted the correct way or could be the wrong size.

Hi studentplayer,

 

that message sounds like your phone is not open to the Virgin network.

Did you purchase it from Virgin? If not did you check that it was unlocked / open to the Virgin Mobile network?

Hi studentplayer, 

 

@AlexKid is absolutely spot on, the error message you have received is telling you the handset is locked onto a different network. 

 

You would need to contact the network you purchased the phone from and request the unlock code.
