Hi. My son has a 2 year virgin mobile contract due to expire in June 2016. A friend has given him an old iPhone 5 which my son would like to use. He's aware that his current sim card would have to be trimmed to fit in the iPhone. Can changing over a phone be done while still under contract? If I contacted Virgin would they say he can't do this until his current contract expires? If anyone can help out I'd be very grateful. Thank you, Richard
Re: moving over from contract phone to different one
provided that all payments on your son's contract continue as required, the phone that he chooses to use is his choice.
If his current SIM isn't one of the 3in1 push out type. You can as you say "trim" it to size (I've done this myself & it's easy, just a bit worrying on the first cut )
Alternatively you could give the Virgin mobile team a call on 789 from a Virgin mobile or 0345 6000 789 from any other phone & request a new SIM of the correct size - a £5 SIM replacement fee may apply but not usually when it's just for change of size.
You will however have to pay for postage: 99p standard or £2.99 for next day.
