Hi A82,

unfortunately as you've found Virgin aren't able to block these premium texts for you.

Premium texts are a subscription based service, providing some sort of content such as news, games, competitions etc.

You will at some point have needed to sign up (perhaps you did so accidentally, e.g. not ticking a box or something on a web page).

EE's third party services checker provides this information:

  • Short code number:85450
  • Service description:85450 - SHARED SHORT CODE
  • Contact details:02076335073 or customercare@mgage.com

This service is provided by mGage and managed by mGage.

Any queries (including questions about billing or charging) should be directed to the contact details above.

Texting back "STOP" or “STOP ALL” to the short code should end the service.

If this doesn’t work you can try the contact number or email address to unsubscribe.

Or make a complaint to PhonePayPlus - 0300 30 300 20
They are the UK regulator for premium rate SMS.

Re: how to stop text messages from 85450

Hi AlexKid, Thanks for the quick and well informed advice ,your right Virgin can only do so much.

I've sent the STOP text and got one back to say they have unsubscribed me,lets hope that stops it all.

It seems these premium texts are becoming a really bad problem and catching a lot of people out.

I'm usually fastidious about small print and unticking boxes etc but just goes to show they got me too  Smiley Frustrated
