I allowed a friend to use my bank details in to set up a direct debit monthly payment for a mobile contract on the understanding that he would be the account holder. having fallen out with the person they stopped paying me for the monthly payments so I cancelled the direct debit. As far as I was aware I was not the account holder. A few months down the line I receive a debt collection letter stating that I owe an outstanding balance to virgin - having called virgin to see what the hell is going on, they are now saying that I am the account holder. I have never signed or received any documentation and the address used for the account is also not mine.
If anyone has any advice that would be greatly appreciated!
