data roaming help please

I've arrived in Portugal this morning and purchased a data pack but i'm getting a message on my phone that I can't use data as I never turned on data roaming on my phone before I left England. I wasn't aware I had to do this, just turned it on on my online account. Is there something I can do here via WIFI to get me online. Thanks in advance.
