I recently got a new SIM card from Virgin, but upon trying to activate it - it says "SIM not valid". I put in the unlock PIN, but no joy....
My phone is a very, very, old Nokia - pre 3G etc, is this going to be a problem with modern SIM cards? or is there another reason why it isn't working?
Thank you for any help with this - as contacting Virgin through chat on the mobile site seems, um, a bit difficult, and I can't call them for obvious reasons......

if it was a Tesco Mobile phone it will most likely be locked to their network. This is why it won't accept your Virgin Mobile SIM.
The good news is that after 12 months Tesco will unlock their mobile phones free of charge.
(I've got an old Nokia Tesco mobile myself). You just need to contact their customer services.

"SIM not valid" sounds like your mobile phone isn't open to the Virgin Mobile network.
Have you used a Virgin Mobile SIM in it previously?
Thanks for your reply AlexKid
It is currently on Tesco mobile. Would the age of the phone not have bearing on this? or do you feel it is something within the phone settings?
I don't want to upgrade the phone, as most modern features are superfluous
Okay Alex - I will contact Tesco. Thanks for your reply!
