Wrong sim

On the phone a few days ago, I set up a pay monthly sim. It's now arrived and it's the standard sim but I need a micro sim. Is there any way around it?

Re: Wrong sim

Hi Stephprag,

first, are you sure that your new SIM isn't one of the 3 in 1 "push out to size” type that you can make to the size you want?

If not, you'll need to give the Virgin mobile team a call on 789 from a Virgin mobile or 0345 6000 789 from any other phone & tell them of your problem.

Alternatively you could trim it down to size yourself (sounds scary but really easy).

Re: Wrong sim

Can I still cut it down if the sim gold chip on the standard sim is bigger then my old micro sim? If so can you point me in the right direction to do so please?

Re: Wrong sim

Hi Stephprag,

yes you can Smiley Happy

my own SIM is an old one with the large gold bit and it works fine trimmed down.

I just used a free multi SIM from another network. Popped out the micro size then held my SIM and the other (larger bit) together.
Drew around the gap (where the micro SIM was) with a pen then cut it out with a pair of scissors.

Really easy.

Re: Wrong sim

Hi Stephprag,

YES it will.

I've done it to my own and my wife's and It was scary the first time.

I practised with an old spare SIM first but was surprised by just how easy it was.

Re: Wrong sim

Just an update, after a lot of research I finally plucked up the courage to cut it. As I was loading my phone up after I had done it I thought that it would be just my luck that it didn't work but to my surprise it did! I'm so chuffed. Thank you for your help!
