Why am I getting a spam text at least once a day for Travel Pass?

For the last few days, I've been getting at least one spam text for a 'Travel Pass'. Some of them come about 4am which is great if I want an early alarm call. There's no indication how I can stop them, I thought an easy way of opting out had to be provided. I've been thinking of changing provider for a while as I'm out of contract, this might motivate me to do it.

Me too, despite 3 calls to Virgin they haven't stopped. I had 4 overnight. I've just replied on another post about it.

I'm at my wit's end - it is sheer harrassment. I have had to set my phone not to receive any texts except from those in my contacts list (make sure Virgin isn't in there!) and now I am reporting them to Ofcom

Hi Peter8,

Welcome to the forums Smiley Happy

I'm really sorry that you've had some trouble with repeated texts from us. To get this stopped, text STOP or STOP ALL. Let me know how you get on.

Thanks,

Mat

Re: Why am I getting a spam text at least once a day for Travel Pass?

Hi Mat

Tried that and get a message saying the number has too many digits or something along those lines. There doesn't seem to be a simple way of opting out of receiving these messages so I think my next step will be a complaint to the ICO.

Thanks

Peter

Have tried STOP ALL to this spate of Travel-pass texts - and also received message saying 'too many digits'.

Virgin - please sort this out - it has become a spammy-nuisance.

Replying STOP/STOP ALL doesn't work it says 'too many digits'.

Re: Why am I getting a spam text at least once a day for Travel Pass?

Hi both,

Sorry to hear that this hasn't been fixed yet. I've just been made aware that our teams are aware of this particular fault and they're hard at work to get this all sorted for you.

Please let me know if you have any further questions regarding this.

Thanks,

Mat

Re: Why am I getting a spam text at least once a day for Travel Pass?

And still the texts keep coming, any time of night or early morning! Appalling behaviour from a large company, surely someone realises texting people at 4 in the morning with a junk marketing message is likely to have a negative effect. As you don't seem to know how to fix this, I'll be cancelling my contract on Monday when I can sort out a replacement.

Hi peter8,

Thanks for getting back to us.

I'm sorry to hear you're still receiving these unwanted texts as my colleague Mat_H mentioned our mobile team are still looking into this at the moment.

My sincere apologies for any inconvenience caused.

Kind regards
