Why Am I able to receive sms but not send

My wife is on a PAYG and recently moved from a simple handset to a Nokia Lumia 800 which I used previously as my contract phone.   Since setting it up for her use she is able to make and receive calls and receive sms but any texts set do not arrive. Can anyone help

Re: Why Am I able to receive sms but not send

Hi Silver_scot,

Thanks for posting Smiley Happy

I'm really sorry that you're having issues sending texts on the phone. We'll be sure to get it sorted for you. Can you let me know if the issue is sending texts to more than one number? Can you also let me know if you're having the problem in one area or more?

Thanks,

Mat

Re: Why Am I able to receive sms but not send

Mat,

She could receive from all numbers we tried but none of the texts she sent arrived at their destinations regardless of number tried. I have given up and she is now using one of my old blackberries, with which she can call, text and receive texts ok.

Re: Why Am I able to receive sms but not send

Hi Silver_Scot,

Thanks for coming back to me Smiley Happy

It certainly seems like there was a fault with the phone if this is working in another handset. Was the handset you used a Virgin one?

Thanks,

Mat

Re: Why Am I able to receive sms but not send

Yes, I had used it for 18 months before upgrading about 6 months ago. I also couldn't get wifi working this time. I am having a similar problem (wifi not working) with the blackberry.

Sorry to hear you're having some issues with the phones Silver_Scot.

I want to get this all sorted for you Smiley Happy Can you let me know the error messages you get on the Blackberry when you try and access Wi-Fi?

Thanks,

Mat

Hi Silver_scot,

Are you still having issues with the Wi-Fi on the Blackberry?

Please let me know if there's anything that I can do for you.

Thanks,

Mat

Re: Why Am I able to receive sms but not send

Yes,  I am using a pay as you go sim card which I can now use on the Blackberry for calss and Texts but when I try to set it up for wifi, it appears to accept everything and is showing my home network but the wifi symbol is greyed out and there is a line as opposed to a tick in the status box.

Also I cant set up email as it is only offering me the enterprise option.

Re: Why Am I able to receive sms but not send

Thanks for your reply silver_scot,

This may be due to the encryption type of the wireless connection.

Are you using a Virgin hub by any chance?

Let me know as soon as you can.

Thanks,

Mat
