Virgin sim not recognised in Sony M5 Dual Sim

Hi

I was given a new work phone - a Sony M5 Dual sim so I could have one phone but receive work calls & personal calls on the same phone.

I put my work nano sim into the M5 & it worked fine, but the phone doesn't recognise my personal Virgin nano sim in either sim slot 1 or 2 !!!!!

The Virgin nano sim was newly provided and works fine in my "old" phone.

Any suggestions gratefully received.

Thanks

John

Re: Virgin sim not recognised in Sony M5 Dual Sim

Hi John,

Welcome to the community and thanks for posting. Sorry to hear your Virgin nano SIM doesn't work in the Sony M5 Dual handset.

I've not come across this type of issue yet so I'd be keen to help out and see what the problem is. Could you please answer the following questions:-

Is there an error message when you insert the SIM?

Does it ask for a code?

Have you tried to manual search for a network?

Hope to hear from you soon.

Thanks

Re: Virgin sim not recognised in Sony M5 Dual Sim

Hi Rich

Thank you for your interest.

When I install the sim the message on the phone says (bizarrely) "No sim in Slot 1" (or 2, depending on which sim slot is used) then it says "sim removed" The phone then goes into a reboot cycle, which is only ended when I interrupt the cycle & power off the phone & remove the sim card.

It does not ask for a code.

Because the phone goes into the reboot cycle I am unable to access any functions on the phone.

I can confirm that an sims from EE, O2, Tesco Mobile work in the phone, but sims from "3" & Virgin Mobile do not.

Any help or suggestions would be gratefully received.

If it doesn't work I will have to move my contract.

Thanks

John

Rich

PS just noticed (not that I think it is in any way related) you said "micro" sim. It is in fact a "nano" sim.

Re: Virgin sim not recognised in Sony M5 Dual Sim

Thanks for coming back to us John Smiley Happy

It seems very odd that our sim isn't working in the phone. Is it just the one Virgin sim you've tried or several?

Let me know as soon as you can.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Thanks,

Mat

Re: Virgin sim not recognised in Sony M5 Dual Sim

Hi Matt

As I said in my earlier post, sims from "3" & Virgin Mobile do NOT work, but sims from "EE" , "O2" & Tesco Mobile do work.

Thanks

Re: Virgin sim not recognised in Sony M5 Dual Sim

Thanks for your reply John Smiley Happy

I'm afraid if several Virgin sims don't work in the phone, there will be nothing that I can do to fix this on our side.

I'm sorry I couldn't do more to help on my side.

Please let me know if you have any more questions.

Thanks,

Mat
