Using phone abroad

I have a rolling monthly contract with virgin and was wondering if I can use it in the EU with the same charges I get here. If so do i have to ring virgin to set it up or does it automatically connect when abroad.

Re: Using phone abroad

Hi Rowley82,

unfortunately using your phone abroad in the EU will cost you rather than coming out of your allowance.

Charges in the EU:

Making a Call 4p (per minute)
Receiving a Call 0p (per minute)
Sending an SMS 1p
Sending an MMS 40p

A 30 second minimum call charge applies to all calls.

For mobile data abroad you will need to purchase an EU Travel Pass:

10MB Travel Pass = £0.35
50MB Travel Pass = £1.50
250MB Travel Pass = £5.00

You are best advised to call customer services (free) on 789 from your mobile and ask them to check that "Roaming" for voice and data is turned on in your account before you leave the UK. "International call baring" also needs to be turned off in your account.

Information on taking your phone abroad can be found HERE
