Unlocking Samsung s6

I have a S6 which is about 6 months into the contract. For various reasons can I unlock and use a different sim card ?

I have read that virign charge £15 for this plus remainder of tarriff. Does this mean I need to pay off the contract ?

I am happy to carry on paying the current monthly charge.

Thanks

Re: Unlocking Samsung s6

Hi space_cowboy,

are you sure that your phone is locked?

Have you tried another network SIM in it?

You will need to fulfill your obligation to pay the remainder of your contract.

Re: Unlocking Samsung s6

Im sure the phone is locked as I have not received the Android update to Marshmallow and await Virgin to release it.

I have just ordered a free SIM to try it.

I intend to carry on paying the monthly charge just want to be able to use two different SIMS in handset.

Re: Unlocking Samsung s6

Your update to Marshmallow has nothing to do with the phone being locked, it's down to the firmware installed (in this case Virgin's) Unlocking won't change that.

Re: Unlocking Samsung s6

If you're going to try another SIM, use O2, Three or Vodafone; or one of their MVNOs. If you use EE or one that is an EE MVNO (as is Virgin) you may find that it will work even if the handset is locked.
