Tried cancelling mobile contract but..

So my mobile phone contract is just about up with Virgin, got a pay as you sim and no need for a new phone so hence the cancellation.

Phoned up yesterday to cancel but was told if I did I would incur a fee for doing so and to phone back after the 26th May.

Can anyone confirm this is correct?  I mean I was willing to pay this month and next on the call just to settle it and cancel so it was out of the way.

Just seems odd that I should incur a further fee to want to pay the contract to the end date.

Re: Tried cancelling mobile contract but..

Hi leew1,

this is a problem that has cropped up a number of times:

Unfortunately it seems that you cannot give more than 30 days notice to cancel.
